Practice Tip to Facilitate Procedure
In the author’s experience, camelid owners are generally not concerned with fiber removal in ill animals for medical procedures. Clipping a wide area for catheterization is useful for visualization and hygiene. If the clip area is to be minimized, the fiber around that area can be taped away from the catheterization site to minimize interference. Part the fiber longitudinally overlying the vein, fold the fiber away on both sides flat against the leg, and use adhesive tape to secure the fiber in place.
