Etiology and Pathophysiology
• Asynchrony of the emission or ejaculation and bladder neck closure
• Unknown but appears to be an all-or-none response. Proposed functional abnormality in neuronal control of both ejaculation and urination (α-adrenergic innervation). Occurs by a different mechanism than that which results in retrograde ejaculation (ejaculation into the bladder).
