Causes of Abnormally High Levels
• Marked increases in acute hepatitis (equine herpesvirus type 1, embolic bacterial diseases, Tyzzer’s disease (Clostridium piliformis), hepatotoxins, Theiler’s disease (serum hepatitis), cholangiohepatitis associated with ascending enteric bacteria, and chronic active hepatitis
• Mild to moderate increases in cholelithiasis, strangulating or obstructive gastrointestinal diseases, acute enterocolitis with endotoxemia, and hyperlipemia syndrome
