Halitosis, ptyalism, dysphagia, dysmastication, quidding, anorexia, and weight loss
Etiology and Pathophysiology
• Squamous cell carcinoma: A malignant neoplastic mass with origins in the squamous epithelium; of soft tissue origin but is highly aggressive and can invade bone and surrounding structures
• Melanoma: Typically benign tumors of melanocytes; slow growth rate; minimal invasion of adjacent structures, but it does occur; classically associated with the parotid salivary glands and gray horses
