Neutrophils (Neutrophilia, Neutropenia, Bands)
Basic Information 
Definition
Neutrophils are the most common white blood cells in the horse. They are of granulocytic origin and are important in bacterial infection and the innate immune response. These cells have a lobulated nucleus, usually three to four lobules, and pale basophilic cytoplasm with poorly staining granules.
Physiology
• Neutrophils originate from myeloid precursors in the bone marrow. There are three pools of cells in the bone marrow:
