Clinical Presentation



History, Chief Complaint




• Weight loss


• Ventral edema


• Polyuria


• Polydipsia



Physical Exam Findings




• Abdominal distension


• Ascites


• Generalized or ventral midline edema


• Poor body condition


• Pleural or peritoneal effusion



Etiology and Pathophysiology




• Nephrotic syndrome can be the end stage outcome of glomerulonephritis.


• Severe glomerular damage affects the filtration pore size and membrane charge of the glomerulus and results in proteinuria.
