Overview and Goal(s)
• The purpose of inhaled therapy is to deliver an amount of medication that ensures therapeutic concentrations in the lower respiratory tract. Inhalation therapy is an alternative to parenteral dosing, allowing treatment with small doses of drug to minimize toxicity and side effects.

• Inhalation therapy is recommended for treatment of many respiratory disorders that occur with bronchoconstriction, inflammation, and/or infection of the lower respiratory tract.

Equipment, Anesthesia
• Inhalation therapy has been achieved with diverse devices such as nebulizers (jet and ultrasonic), MDIs, and DPIs.
