Etiology and Pathophysiology
• Unopposed teeth or portions thereof
• Abnormal enamel content or distribution
• Any abnormality in dental tissue or alignment or restriction of normal mandibular movement can lead to excessive wear in specific areas along the arcades. Compensatory shifts in mandibular position or ROM can lead to secondary malocclusions.
