Overview and Goal(s)
• Cryopreservation by vitrification is preferred to conventional slow freezing for equine embryos. The vitrification technique is simple and can be performed on a farm with commercially available media.
• Vitrification involves exposing the embryo to high concentrations of cryoprotectants, which triggers a glasslike state, to avoid ice crystal formation.
